FAQs
-
How long should I plan my travel for the Philippines?
Ideally you’d allocate 9 total days – 7 full days in the Philippines with 2 days of travel. The shortest flight to get there takes 12 hours, so you’d want to maximize your time there.
Fed has done it in 4 days – so a shorter timeline is possible but definitely not recommended. This would probably only give you enough time just for the wedding.

How much is a flight to the Philippines?
It costs about $1000-1500, depending on the airline and how early you purchase your tickets. Ideally you would have your flight booked 4-5 months before the wedding.
What if you end up having to purchase your ticket later than 4-5 months before? That should be no problem, just keep in mind that ticket prices are likely to be more expensive.

What’s the weather like? What should I wear? Important items to pack?
Hot and humid – bring your banana hammocks!
April is during their summer season so try to pack clothing with light and breathable fabric. Bring sandals for the beach (unless you’re a shoe-bie).
If you’re a mosquito magnet (like Fed) then definitely equip yourself with an armada of bug repellent items. These mosquitoes don’t mess around and they will spot weakness if you’re not prepared!

Is bringing cash recommended? What is the conversion rate? Where can I get money exchanged?
Cash is recommended since not all businesses on the island will accept credit cards (of course, only bring a reasonable amount of cash with you).
Currently, it’s $1 = Php 53, but it does fluctuate. Most airports usually have places where you can exchange your dollars or euros. Locally in Boracay, there are a few local banks or money exchange locations at the D*Mall.
It may be easier to withdraw from local ATMs so the money you withdraw is already in pesos (Php).

How do I get around the island (Boracay)?
There are no Ubers or Lyfts. Instead, you’d ride e-Trikes!
Crimson also has a shuttle that can take you to the D*Mall or coordinate with them directly if you’d like to be shuttled to other locations around the island. If you’re staying at another hotel, check with them for any shuttle service they may offer.

Where should I stay if I'm staying in Manila for a few days?
We recommend booking a place in the Makati City area or Bonifacio Global City (BGC) Taguig area - these places are generally more tourist friendly than other places in Metro Manila.
We’ve stayed in Citidines Salcedo Village and would recommend to book here if you do want want to look around for other options.

Any recommended places to visit outside of Boracay?
Palawan (El Nido or Coron) – dream location for snorkeling and diving
Siargao – a surfer’s paradise
Bohol – home to the Tarsier (worlds smallest primate) and Chocolate Hills!
All these islands are also known for their gorgeous beaches.
